Hospital bag checklist

I decided I should probably compile a list of things to pack in my hospital bag. Does anyone have any other must-haves or any things that can be done without. After all, we're not going to Disneyland, and our hospital is only 2 miles from our house.

Here's what we have so far:

  • Insurance card, ID
  • Birth plan
  • My comfy robe
  • Slippers
  • Laptop loaded with relaxing music and perhaps a DVD or two
  • Hard candies/gum
  • Junky magazines (like US Weekly)
  • Camera
  • Video Camera
  • Cell phone & charger
  • Snacks for partner
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, paste, hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, body and face lotion, deodorant, mini loofah)
  • Shower sandals
  • Nice comfy towel
  • Nursing pillow
  • Nursing-appropriate bra or tank
  • Breast pads
  • Nursing-appropriate PJ
  • Make up
  • Glasses/contacts/solution
  • Comfy clothes & toiletries for partner
  • Snacks
  • Comfy outfit to go home in (NOT pre-pregnancy size)
  • Coming home outfit for baby + swaddle blanket + car seat + pediatrician’s number
  • Tennis Ball
  • Cash
  • Baby hygiene kit (nail clippers, file, etc)

  2. Saaaweeeet! Advice I just received from a friend. Bring a couple pairs of gianormous granny panties. I don't totally get it but she says they will be your life saver with all that's leaking out of you and your soreness. Nice. For sure get a couple of those tank tops from Target or Motherhood Maternity that unsnap in the front. Then you don't need to worry about a bra and it keeps you hidden under your gown that supposedely has lots of openings in it (in the front)...and super comfy yoga pants. That's what I hear! Love this!

  3. Quarters for vending machines and pay phones ( some hospitals dont allow cell phones in certain areas) but you'll prob have a phone in your room, your baby book for journaling and you or the nurse can stamp her foot prints and finger prints into the book on the day shes born :)
